Here’s one of my most favorite guitar that I never had the chance to get my hands on. I know most guitar aficionados will surely not disagree with me since this guitar is not really for the hardcore guitar virtuosos. This is a Gibson Tom DeLonge Signature Guitar. Yes, that is surely on my list of favorite guitars, next to the vintage Fender Telecaster. Now, what makes it likeable? Well, it’s simply because it is so simple, it rocks.
The Tom DeLonge Signature basically, it looks like a vintage Gibson ES 335. What makes it different? Well, except for the fact that it now sports a chocolate colored body with white racing stripes to add more attitude, it has a vintage Gibson Dirty Fingers hum bucker Pick up and one control knob. The dirty finger was produced on the 70,s and was discontinued because of its loud and slightly distorted tone as a result of an over wound potted pick up. Since it has only one pickup, it has no pick up selector, no tone control knob, it looks large and clean.
The sound? Awesome for riff-based songs and down stroked strumming which I personally like. Tom Delong is Blink 182 and Angels and Airwaves front man, he basically wanted a vintage American guitar but with a bad ass, uncomplicated attitude, thus, the Gibson Tom DeLonge Signature Guitar.
